Has anybody been to Boeing in Everett? How long does one need to see it all?
How does one get there from Sea-Tac? What would be an estimated cost?
I was thinking of going out Monday, taking the redeye back.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey 19 http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/wink.gif , Chris (nonrev1) visited the Boeing plant a few years back. Boeing tour info
As I recall another member also wrote a review, but it didn't come up in my first search. Do an advance search, hopefully you're come up with something.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ColoAvs19 @ May 31 2008, 11:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div>Well, the BEST way would to be "Ask a Local". It's about 45 minutes to an hour up there,a nd supposedly a couple hours worth (but the Museum of flight is closer and cooler I think)Quote:

If you came out Tuesday (My RDO) It would cost you about 20$ in gas and possibly lunch, otherwise, it's quite a few buses (and an all day trip) or an easy shot straight up I-5 with a rental car.
Hey Jumper, really appreciate your offer. I may take you up on that in the coming weeks.
I didn't get to Everett. I got to Boeing Field and the museum of flight. They pretty much had to chase me out the door a few minutes after closing time. It was really neat to see. Of course, its nice to have the ability to travel 3000 miles to see a museum.
I actually "flew together." Mesaba CR9 MDT-DTW, NW 752 DTW-SEA. Every tunnel I've been through in ATL, CVG, etc. I've never seen a light show like in DTW. The 757 seemed a little tired, and I didn't like the cloth seats, or sitting in coach looking at the empty F/C seats, but the price was right.
Of course I pumped myself up for the trip with Alice in Chains and Soundgardens greatest hits, and Nirvana's Nevermind and In Utero.
After Boeing Field I went downtown, went up the Space Needle, and ran a 7 minute mile to get the bus to the airport. I was 1 minute late to the bus stop, but the bus was 2 minutes late.
I got the last F/C seat on the redeye to ATL, CRJ through CVG to MDT, and then BED. I woke up just in time to go back to bed. Good trip.

Sounds like you have a good trip though! I'm planning another SEA NYC run at the end of July - YWG took a lot out of me!
No one told me that there was a hundred miles of NOTHING between there and Brandon!!!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumper @ Jun 20 2008, 06:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div>I know the feeling, there are certain sections of Utah and Arizona, where there are just miles and miles of nothing...no houses, no gas stations, no cell service and little to no traffic, just nothing; it was just me, RJ and the music. It was during one of these cactus and sagebrush miles that we had a bonfide road rage incident. RJ saying something about my mangling the words to "Hotel California" ejected my Eagles CD and put on Books on Tape. Trust me, replacing my CD with a book about subs, while in the middle of the desert, was not a wise move. I won't go into all that happened ( probably put in blog) , but just know that soon the Eagles and I were back singing "What a nice surprise when you're out of Ice", http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/wink.gif in perfect harmony.Quote:

The best time to be driving through these areas are when you're "not feeling well." A few years ago I "got in touch with nature" as the closest facilities were about 2 hours in either direction.
And the music, Seatle's greatest contribution to the world is it's music. It's worst is Starbucks.
Hey Jumper, the fly together number, is that SEA, or is it in all the res centers? Do you get fly together duty one day, or is it just spliced in with all the other calls? I talked to a really nice agent yesterday when I was listing my mother.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ColoAvs19 @ Jun 20 2008, 11:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div>Seattle's greatest contribtion and you didn't mention Boeing,....C19, you're slipping.Quote:

As for Seattle's worst, it's got to be -- ripped flannel shirt, over ripped t-shirt with ripped jeans---GRUNGE. http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/ohmy.gif
I can't believe Boeing slipped my mind. I immediately apologize and retract my statement. Boeing is #1, Grunge is #2. And starbucks is still last.
I've never worn the grunge look, but the music is way better than anything released recently.
I keep expecting Pink Floyd or the crew of the Fantastic Voyage to add to my experience in the DTW tunnel. It's almost worth flying thru just to take it all in. Makes you feel like you're in an old Beatles vid? At least there was no one saying "soylent green is people"....

It's mixed in with all the other calls - I often shudder when I get "Norwest Employee Fly together" as unlike regular non reving, it's a REAL pain in the butt to get it right (Even WITH the cheat sheet!) as I have to set up an open ticket - funny enough, if you're a Delta Employee, I can just run you through the regular Non Rev flow, just like a regular NWA employee.
*NOTE TO FELLOW NW EMPLOYEES FLYING ON DELTA*
Do *NOT* call me an hour before your flight to get your pass - you need to get a paper ticket from the NW counter THEN list on Delta - Unlike for Delta employees where it's a paperless pass and I can do it all in one easy call, for us to fly on Delta it's a little more involved right now! Plan accordingly!!

Actually, we need paper tix to ride on NW. I guess it doesn't get put into your PNR maybe, but we cannot get on a NW plane without a flight coupon. It just so happens to be $0.00, but we still need the coupon. I think it's kind of a waste of paper, when going to SEA, I got 5 or 6 flight coupons to cover plans B and C, I ended up using 2.
It is really nice to have pretty much double the flights available to hop on.

Oh! See, with Delta folks I only get the 'other side' of it - listing a Delta employee for me is just like listing a regular NW employee - a few simple clicks through the flow and boom, I can drop you a PNR like *that*. Soon enough I hope it'll be easier for all of us http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/cool.gif
With the PM function down, I figured I'd revive this year old thread.
Jumper, I was considering another attempt to tour Boeing. Might you be available Mon 5/11 or Tues 5/12?
Thanks
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ColoAvs19 @ May 8 2009, 11:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div>You must! We went up there when we lived in the area about 10 years ago. The Everett tour is quick but it was neat to see the 777s being built. There was a Cathay Pacific 777 in the hangar while we were there. You had to get a ticket early and then come back for your show time. Don't know if it is still the same.Quote:

Back in Seattle, go to Copacabana for lunch. It is a Bolivian Restaurant in the Pike Place market area.

My RDO's are W/Th, but I MIGHT be able to get a late in - to be honest, Thursday would have been a lot better but send me an e-mail - it should be in my profile or alternately you can use the 'other' one JMPRPaws AT Hot---- dot com (mail instead of dashes - damn spambots)
Visited Boeing Everett on 8May. I stayed at the everett the night before, so that I can get there in just 15 minutes drive. It is worth to do so. Next time, if I still have interest to visit again, I may stay at Hilton Garden View. It is next door to the Musuem, and I have a good guess that may be the hotel for customer airline before delivery flight.
We got to the future of the flight just before 10, no one there, bought the tickets so easy. You can bought tickets from the machine or from the ticket kiosk. We bought the show ticket at 10.15, coz they have a school visit at 10. The lady told me there will be 50% off discount for Airline Employee during winter season http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e..._DIR#>/sad.gif
Before the show I walked the museum, where Air France was celebrating their 75 years and has the display there. The are numerous display there with RR, GE and P&W displaing engine....
The show started with a 15 minutes short movie, and then took a bus to the Boeing Factory. The bus drove around a DreamLifter and the first 787. The guide said that 787 is due for first flight test in Jun09, so excited.
Then we reached the factory building, where you need to walk down 30 steps to the tunnel. From the tunnel walk another 200 meters to get to the lift. Lift goes up to the observation deck and oversee 2 assembly lines. There were 4 777 assembling, 2 Air France and 1 BA, another unknown. There is a large overhead projector showing the progress of each aircraft.
We back to the bus and went to another factory building, which is building 787s. Lots of engineers are sitting on the floor and working on the 787, it is massive.
After all, we back to the musuem and end up in the Boeing Store with a CDROM as gift for the tour. The tour took like 2 hours. Don't miss the roof top of the building, it's spectacular to view all the soon will deliver airplanes, Dreamlifter and may be 787.
