Flying the A380

Did you end up going on the trip on an A380? I got to ride on Qantas A380 last month, there are some pics somewhere in my profile. Let me know if you got on SQ or EK, i&#39;d be interested to see pics if you have any

No not yet. I just work for CO part-time. i lost my full-time job and so I am job hunting. I looked at loads today and it makes me sick that I don&#39;t have the money to travel.

EK pilots find the A380 "too quiet", can&#39;t sleep.

"Weary Emirates Airbus A380 pilots are complaining that they cannot sleep in their crew-rest area in the aft cabin because the aircraft is too quiet.
The pilots say that the lack of engine noise in the A380&#39;s cabin compared with other long-haul airliners means they are constantly disturbed by sounds created by passengers, such as crying babies, flushing vacuum toilets and call bells."

A friend recently flew EK DXB-JFK in business class (duty trip). After the flight, the purser gave him a tour of the aircraft. He took lots of pics of the aircraft and his meal. If I can get my hands on them I&#39;ll post them, but the F class LAV ... OMG! From what I understand, EK has two crew members dedicated to cleaning up the lav after each F class passenger.

Typical engineers. They design things too good even for their own good. Now the pilots can&#39;t sleep because of an aluminum can full of crying babies and toilet flushes.

you&#39;d think it would be a simple fix to put in a white noise unit or similar? geez, even our humidifier fan makes a great buffer for outside sounds

It seems Emirates opted out of the standard Airbus option (locating the pilot&#39;s rest quarters behind the flightdeck ".....because it would have compromised the desgn of the airline&#39;s upper deck first-class cabin."

Talk about your unforeseen consequences, now because the pilot&#39;s rest compartment is in the rear of the main deck, pax confuse the quarters for a lav.

Haha claustrophobic? FAs have been sleeping in containers in A340s for years...

The container also takes up valuable cargo space.... i read something the other day that from LAX-MEL on the A380 at full pax load it can only take ~400kg (~800lbs) of cargo!

Not that that route is flown by EK or SQ... but just thought i&#39;d throw it out there
