I haven't been able to fly the A380 yet. I am thinking of taking an around the world with my son in September or early October. I have yet to fly the A380. I need some help on routes they are flown on and what are the best flights for nonrev's. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I32red, a trip around the world is one of my dreams too. Just saw an advertisement for the Emirates frist class spa on the A380, you might want to start there. Introducing the new Emirates A380

Emirates plan to deploy A380 to Sydne/Melbourn in FEB'2009. You may take up A380 from Newyork Then to Dubai , Singapore, Sydney/Melbourn, back to Dubai then to LA/SFO.

Also a possibility is taking QF on the A380, with services scheduled to start from October 20 2008 (getting close!) from MEL and SYD to LAX. The QF product is nothing compared to the EK and SQ product, but would make a nice comparison, and perhaps a little more direct than DXB.

If choosing QF, beware we have just launched a new check-in system on domestic services, and is scheduled to be rolled out to international services before A380 launch. This new system is currently quite 'buggy' with lots of negative press in Australian newspapers. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Feel free to PM if you require any loads on QF.

An A380 model (Emirates livery) has replaced the Concorde model at the approach to Heathrow. At the unveiling of the model aircraft, the president of Emirates said: "While the previous Concorde model represented the past, our A380 represents the future - and it is a future of cleaner, quieter aircraft."

FOR ME, it's all about the places you see and not just to be able to say you been around the world.[/b]
I agree with you, but, I just want to do it one time just to say I did it. As far as hiking Mount Kilamanjaro I can tell you right now I will never be there. My last trip to Europe we flew into Milan. We didn't see any of the tourist attractions but we were offered "Easter Cake and Wine" in more than a half dozen residences that we were in on Easter Sunday. It was a trip to remember. Not that I never do the tourist thing, but I prefer to do more than just sit in Business Class in an Airplane as well and then soak up the rays at a premium hotel. My son is really excited though, he has been plenty of places but how many other nine year olds can say that they have been around the World.

How many nine year olds can say they have actually left the country? I hear you. Like I said, it's all about what YOU want to do for satisfaction. I joined the Marines as a teenager. I learned that not everyone thinks the Marines are cool. I just have my own personal satisfaction of having been one. It don't matter for me what anyone else thinks. So there's an example.

Hey JumboDreaming,

I thought Qantas received their first A380 in January. You had posted they will start service on 20 Oct. Where is the aircraft now?

Pssst, i32red...drop the "U's". To Aussies those U's in Qantas are like "Niagara Falls!" to Curly(3 Stooges) "Slowly I turn..."
