I suppose this will be good for some people but I simply cannot imagine being on a plane (or pretty much anywhere outside of my home) for over 22 hours!

The 22 hours in one hop is new - maximum scheduled hop is around 19 I think, between Singapore and New York. Australia to Europe (there are no nonstops, most flights transit one or more points in Asia) takes about that long.
