I went there via from AL JUBAIL by bus with a bunch of Marines. We went there to check out the oil fields and how the city looked after it got liberated. It was kind of war torn and in the process of rebuilding. I remember alot of American buisnesses in Kuwait city in this hotel marketing to the locals their products. I talked to one lady and asked here what she was doing in Kuwait. Up to that time it was all U.S. Military and contractors working for the military as I was. Place was shot to hell. Lots of stripped vehicles, shattered windows. Burned out buildings. Even took a drive in the "HIGHWAY OF DEATH" and saw miles upon miles of shot up, destroyed vehicles. I got some pictures of me around the towers. I looked up and the glass had been shot away in many areas of the tower. Yea its hotter than haedes over there without any doubt. Rotten sandstorms too that lasted for days. We took this tour of torture chambers where they presented to us how the Iraqis tortured Kuwait's. Everywhere you went, there were billboards thanking Americans for liberating them. One instant observation that was super noticeable was that WOMEN IN KUWAIT CAN DRIVE!!! They are not like in the KINGDOM of SAUDI ARABIA or KSA where laws run super tight for drinking and for the ladies rights. I can't believe this has been 20 years to this DATE when I was over there in country!!! Thanks for posting that. I like to compare the then to the now.
