Personally, United has a better branding in my mind. Worldwide service.. that's a tagline I like.

I have a soft spot for UA.. only US airline to fly to aust for quite a while, until recently. All I ever heard when I was in the US was people moaning about us airways service. But i've never tried them to comment..
