calling all DXB experts!
Looking at options to exit JNB IF DL has ops issues:
we would split and I can send husband to EU on zed and I can go to DXB on Air Emirates but would have 12+ hrs to hang until I connect later and get home Sad to say, zed would be coach--any advice for flight/hotels/layover time (I will not be interested in spending copious amts of $$ but I'm not a budget hotel kinda gal either...
I really detest long flights in steerage, as I am a major brat, so any advice is appreciated
Ta Ta for now

What attracts you to Dubai? That's a long place to get to from the states. I was in the area back in 1990-91 but never actually saw Dubai. Was in Saudi, Kuwait and Bahrain. One word for you. No. Two. PERFUME OIL and GOLD.

M767 as I recall "Vulindlela" wrote about visiting Dubai and flying home on Emirates Air in one of his blog entries. Since the PM system is down, you might want to drop him a line in his blog comments.

I gotta admit, Palms--it's only because:
it's a cheaper zed than EU
shorter flight in coach (unless I'd be miraculously upgraded)
flat seats/lots of open business class space on DL DBX to ATL
I'd ratehr have a nice day at a lovely hotel pool in Dubai than sit for the extra hours on AF to CDG then wait 4 hours to connect to 2 more flights home

It may be moot--BUT must have Plan B--we're leaving Johannesburg after a safari, not going there direct--so it's my backup
