Kuwait Airways has signed a contract with Airbus to buy 25 new aircraft and lease 12 others in the biggest overhaul of its fleet since the 1990 Iraqi invasion.
"The company will start to receive the new planes from the second quarter of 2014," the airline said in a statement.
The airline did not disclose the value of the agreement or give details about the type of aircraft.

Airbus has signed a MOU with Air Algerie to sell three A330-200s, the European plane maker said today.

No value was provided for the deal.
The north African country's airline will deploy the aircraft on medium and long haul routes from its hub in Algeria, the Airbus statement said.
Air Algerie has already ordered a total of five Airbus A330s, which have all been delivered.

Meanwhile, a new Libyan full service airline, Libyan Wings, launched at the Dubai Airshow on Monday signed a MOU to buy seven Airbus aircraft.

The Tripoli-based carrier ordered three A350-900s and four A320neos, which have a total value of USD$1.3 billion at list price.
