No affect to KLM flights...Expected Rollover.
Tens of thousands of Air France passengers faced disruptions Thursday as a labor strike snarled the carrier’s operations.
Long-haul flights were hit hardest, with Air France canceling about half of those from its Paris schedule on Thursday. Flights to Atlanta, Detroit, New York and San Francisco were among hundreds of cancellations at the airline.
More than 320 of Air France’s “mainline” flights had been grounded as of 9:45 a.m. ET, accounting for nearly half of the company’s daily schedule, according to flight-tracking service FlightAware. Flights on Hop!, Air France’s regional operation, suffered only minimal disruptions. Similarly, flights on KLM were unaffected by the strike. Air France and KLM are both part of the broader Air France-KLM group.
Reasoning..
The day-long strike is a measure that protesters hoped would pressure Air France management to meet demands of a 6% pay raise.
"We've been making an effort since 2011 and gotten a 30% rise in productivity and no increase in salary," National Air France Group union chief Patrick Henry-Haye said to AP. "Last year, our top managers raised their salaries by 67%. Us: 0%."
