I had no idea so many people flew nonstop between JFK and LAX. I would assume it would be a tough market to nonrev on just because of the international connections in both cities but you'd think that with 10 flights a day it would still be possible to get on (even with a reduction of seats). This is the most demanding and highest yield route in the country partly due to the amount of walk-up need-to-go-now revenue (Celebrity, Rockstars, etc) .
