    Default Voluntary Rollover?

I still it possible to get voluntary rolled over to the next flight? Let’s say I’m speculating on a first class seat but don’t get it on the listed flight. Can I asked the gate agent to voluntary roll me over to the next flight even if I could be accomated in economy on the first flight?

Thanks for helping with all the questions and answers. I’ve learned a lot from the site here.

I guess it’s no problem to ask the gate agent to pull your reservation and roll you to an earlier flight if you want to. But is it possible to get rolled to the next flight even if there are enough seats available in F/Y?

Yes you can if you haven't checked any bags. Also, it needs to be the next flight, not one 2 or more flights later.

    Thanks for your fast answer....
what about voluntary route changes....does that work as well? I really can't find any good document at my AA regional that explains the complete AA non rev travel.

    Thanks again.

Does anyone have an answer on this one? I'm thinking the same thing. Flying JFK-TYO 4/12-4/21 and would like the best chance to Biz or PE. I can route through DFW/ORD/LAX.

    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome aboard Rangerrk

Getting First/Biz/PE is hit or miss. These days getting an upgrade comes down to good timing, a good internet connection, carryon only and a whole lot of luck. That 24 hours before flight, numbers can change wildly. I’ve seen upgrade lists jump from a few to 20 pax long (upgrade at the kiosk/LFBUs). But sometimes the planets do align, you look up at the gate screen see that check mark next to your name, walk up to the counter and the GA smiles and says “I got you an exit row”. *wink*

I would say DFW probably has better odds just because of more flights *wink*
To paraphrase Damon Runyon – Firs/Biz is not always to the Platinum/Gold traveler, but that’s how smart money bets.
