    Hi guys,

Recently given two freebies on VS anywhere on the network, so being a bit of a greedy bugger I am looking to go as far as I can on them!!

I have never been to China (except for HKG) so would love some feedback from anyone who has been to Shanghai. Is there much to see/do there? Can I hook up with local reputable tours to see some of the country? When is good to go? I'd appreciate any responses. Thanks!

Shanghai is a great city. Not only are there several good museums but the new Pudong district across the river from the Bund is filled with fantastic modern architecture. The 3rd tallest building in the world is there, the Jin Mao as well as the Pearl Tower, the 3rd tallest tower. You must visit the observation decks on both for beautiful views of the Bund and the city. You can also begin a Yangtze River cruise from Shanghai.

p.s. A great budget hotel ($35 USD last time I checked) in Shanghai is the Xin Kaifu Hotel. It's about 10 mins. walk from the Bund. Very nice place, very nice people, their english is a little rough. If you eat in the hotel restaurant make sure you have the lemon chicken (if they still have it).

    Cheers Randy!

Appreciate the tips. Any ideas on nightlife/restaurants/evening activities?

    Thanks again... Mark
