As far as I know, only L.A. and Bangkok share "the city of angels" nickname...of course we here in L.A do have team jerseys.

I will be arriving late into BKK...after midnight. Can you recommend a close by hotel as we're travelling with a baby. I'm looking for a step up from my usual Khao San Rd dumpy joints.
I am aircrew as well if you know some crew deals. years ago a co-worker used to stay at an Amari by the airport I think?
Thanks much. Backpackers turned parents. m
I have also spent lots of time with my children in Bangkok. The Amari airport Hotel is the most convenient because its connected with the Airport, although I believe that the Amari Hotel did not give very good Airline discounts. I know that the Rama Gardens Airport Hotel, which is about a 10 minute ride from BKK does offer good Airline Rates. Just check with them too see if they can give you a good rate!
I think that BKK is getting a new airport soon, or BKK already moved it's operations from Don Guan Airport?

A very close hotel (think less than :15 door-ro-door) is the Bangkok Airport Hotel, which is located about 7 kms. NORTH of the airport (away from town, not closer to it) They offer airline crew and airline employees with ID rates of about THB1500 or so.. depends on hotel load for that night.. a basic hotel, but it's attached to a shopping center and some places to eat (includig a McDonalds for those craving western farang food).. All in all a good cheap choice for overnight lodging when you have a early morning departure.. It is NOT a good choice for those staying in town for a while as the drive to-from the hotel into town will be long
Cheers!

Hi Kenneth,
I realize it's been awhile since your original post, but I hope you are still available to help. I am planning on going to BKK next month and was wondering if you have any recommendations. I work for NW and it seems that Accor Hotels (Novotel, Sofitel, etc.) give a pretty good interline rate. Right now, I'm booked at the Grand Sukhumvit by Sofitel in the Soi 6 area of Sukhumvit road. I hope this is a good choice.
If you have any recommendations for sights, let me know. Last time I was in Bangkok, a couple of years ago, I saw all of the main temples, royal palace, etc. This time, I'd like to venture out off the beaten path. In particular, do you have any recommendations for a traditional Thai restaurant, a tailor, and recommendations for any of the big cabaret shows?
Thanks
Tim in Boston
Hi,
Can you also give me info on non-revving from BKK to LAX? Or any West Coast city for that matter? I plan to go there on March 2010, leaving BKK-LAX March 24 or 25th. Thai Air would be preferable as it's direct, otherwise, any ZED airline would do, as long as I get back in the US by 26th. Thanks!
Rowena
I had a chance to stay at Rama Gardens and must admit it was amazing. After spending 2 weeks on the Island of Koh Chang, I was in need of a good bed and a good Cheeseburger. I got both at Rama Gardens. I booked my room through the website www.wireddestinations.com and got a very nice room for around 45 USD. I flew into San Francisco on EvaAir. Very good flight and very good crew. Everything I needed was given to me even though I was stuck in coach.
Cheers,
Skipper
