    Hi everyone,

    A co-worker and I have planned a trip to MNL and we are leaving on Friday night. The best (most open flights) routing we found was BOS=AMS=MNL...MNL=(NGO)=DTW=BOS...

    Has anyone been to MNL that can offer insights on things to do there...and...If there is anyone who can check loads for the return on their respective airline on 22MAR back to the US...from NRT to the US

    Thanks in advance-->Safe Returns!

    I just got back from MNL last week. I did a very very quick trip. Thursday AA JFK-NRT, JL NRT-MNL arrived 11:30pm. Sunday NW MNL-NRT, AA NRT-JFK. I was in MNL for a total of 30 hours.

    I've been to MNL several times and enjoy going back. Depending on what you like, there is much to do. Makati has fantastic shopping and nightlife. Personally, I enjoy Green Hills shopping center for my shopping. I love to haggle and get great gifts for cheap prices. There are many good places to eat there as well. The fort area is kind of neat as is the Filipino Heritage Museum.

    One warning... the airport is nothing like the US. Get to the airport early! You must clear several layers of security including a screening to enter the airport lobby, a screening past immigration and a final screening at your gate. They are trying to follow the general liquid ban placed in the US, but it's not working well. They confiscated my toiletries, but left a bottle of water in my carry on bag.

    The Filipino people are warm and caring. Enjoy your trip!

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response...We ended up leaving BOS-DTW on last Sat. night and staying over...then we flew NW71 DTW-NGO-MNL...we got C-Class so we had a great flight...we arrived in MNL monday at midnight. We left MNL on Thursday morning at 0645 on NW72 MNL-NGO-DTW (again in C-Class)...It amazed me how these flights fall apart at the last minute...the back was oversold by 20 in the computer! Anyways...we did the Green Hills shopping and ventured to the Mall of Asia.

    You were right about the airport...my god! I think they do it right over there though...maybe we should limit the airport to traveling psgrs only! Thanks for the advise...Where did you stay anyways...we were at the Peninsula-Manila; it was fantastic!

    Thanks again!

    Glad to hear the trip went well. I was fortunate to get F on my JFK-NRT-JFK segments, but was in middle coach seats to MNL. I have several close friends that I stay with when I'm there. Once in a while we'll check into a couple of boutique style hotels. Glad you're back safely.
