Howdy, we are planning a trip to Seoul and was wondering if anyone had any tips on non-reving on KAL(Korean Air Lines). Our pass agreement is for a $300.00 Morning Calm fare. We would be leaving from SLC(Salt Lake City) so would travel to either YVR, SEA, LAX, SFO or LAS. What I am not sure is what the loads are like the first part of April. If certain days are better than others? Is there anyway to see load information. Are there some US cities that have multiple flights per day or would be less traveled than others?

I know about non-reving as far as Standby but if the flights are always oversold every day of the week for all US cities well I think we could consider other plans.

Anyone have any Non-Rev tips on KAL? I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks in advance.

we recently flew ATL/ICN on Delta--then made connections using Skymiles to BKK. Do you have ID on Delta? It might make sense to go backwards to take US carrier--KAL wasn't bad, but not up to par in business class--only a few more miles than coach. Substandard biz food. service, seating. The ads on TV are nothing like what we encountered--only the initial 'bow" was classy...
I would guess that April is rather popular due to inital spring vacations, flower festival, etc. Ck a tourguide book or website for special events first (think Cherry Blossom time in Japan and so on) I would recommend Queen Hotel for day or night layover nr ICN--"Airport Town" is pretty amusing...they're pretty good for upgrades when avail and have good shuttle service. Local rstaurants are cheap and plentiful!
I can ck the current seat aval on Iddeals.com.uk but no historical info--I'm not sure it's pertinent nor dependable any more.
    Good luck!.

Thank you for the reply. Great idea about checking a guide book.
We do not have pass privs with Delta but are booking a return ICN-ATL-SLC via my wifes SkyMiles to use as a backup on getting home. Hopefully we won't have to use it.

Could you PM me a sample of what iddeals.com.uk standby availability looks like before I sign up as a member? If you could use a KAL flight like KE 018 LAX-ICN on April 6th 2008. Or any flight, I just want to see what the availability looks like it.

    Thanks again for your help.
We don't need a hotel as we'll be staying with my Father In Law. We are considering going down to BUSAN for a couple of days and would just take the KTX train down.

doh--I sent a PM, but didn't pay enuff attn to your request
Both #18 and 16 KE LAX/ICN show 23 seats which means between 10 and 52 in all open classes
best they can give so far in advance, based on whatever their "guesstimation" system is
Once the # go under 10, it's supposed to be quite accurate.
