Last visit was in 2010 in Jan. Probably go next year. I've made that run so many times, I can't stand it no more to be honest. Probably over 20 trips across the Pac back and forth. I lived out on the islands. I always took NorthWest Airlines out of GUM to NRT and then to DET or ORD and take my own airline to wherever I was going from there. This was before we ran the B777 from NRT-IAH. When that scenario came about, I took Continental all the way. It was easiest prior to that flying NWA across the pac. This avoided the dreaded GUM-HNL-LAX route.

I did ATL-LAX-NGO-MNL then MNL-NGO-DTW-ATL in November and December 2011. I had no problems other than getting the heck out of ATL. This was on a Buddy Pass for Delta.

Be careful with PAL, I had a co-worker whose wife and kids got stuck in MNL for 3 weeks (they had passes to LAX, SFO and LAS - via YVR). Nothing. They had to purchase cofirmed tickets to SYD and the nonrev o UAL back to the states. This was in July 2010 so apparently geeting out of MNL in the summer is hell on earth.

I'm US, based in PHX. The story regarding my co-worker took place 2 years ago, he used to be UAL back in SFO. He still had friends at UAL so he got some buddy passes and his family made it back to the states. I personally don't know anyone at the UAL operation here in PHX, they are at a separate terminal.
