    Default BKK-MNL; BKK-HKG; HKG-MNL-HKG Jan/Feb 2013

    Hello everyone,
I'm planning to fly on 24.01 WAW-FRA-BKK (LO ;TG/LH), spend a couple of days in BKK and then
    30.01 BKK-MNL (TG) or BKK-HKG (TG/CX) and HKG-MNL(CX),
    31.01 CRK-KLO; 7.02 KLO-CRK-HKG
(Air Asia - already bought tickets but the plane from KLO arrives in CRK 4.40 PM and the HKG flight is 6.50 PM so I think I'll buy ZED MNL-HKG for CX in case I'm late for the HKG flight).
    8.02 HKG-HEL-WAW (AY; LO)

I have no experience with CX and TG intra-Asia flights... Will it be difficult to get from BKK to MNL? Should I try a direct flight or via HKG?

    Thanks,

    Karolina

I can see that the most difficult part of your trip is CRK-MNL
How to get from Clark to Manila Airport? - FlyerTalk Forums

only budget airlines fly from CRK, so you have to figure that part out.

It would be easier the fly BKK-MNL than BKK-HKG-MNL, reason being that CX has many crew who are from MNL and will go home when they are free.

You should check your agreement with CX because they are moving to E-ticket and you would need to list on myidtravel if you want to fly with them

    HOLIDAY ALERT!
Chinese new year starts on 10 Feb, which means everyone from Asia will be moving as early as 8 Feb or maybe earlier if flights are full. Flights into HKG (or any chinese countries) will be full with chinese returning home for holidays and flights out will be full of people who takes advantage of the long holiday to go travel. I would assume that you would have a better chance if you fly on 10 or later (i.e. no one will travel on christmas day). I can't say your odds of HKG-HEL as I doubt there are as many Chinese returning home to HEL, but I'm quite sure there will be a lot of people going on holiday to HEL than usual.

Agreed. Buy a ticket on Cebu Pacific. Tickets are $60 - $90USD RT. ZED tickets might be very difficult on Chinese New Year.

Clark to Manila airport? As in Angeles City? Easy! Shuttle or taxi. It's not really that far. Maybe hour drive at the most.

Thank you so much for your help! I've just found out that there is Tiger BKK-CRK $90 on 30.01 21.20 which may actually be even cheaper than ZED BKK-HKG-MNL and doesn't require travelling MNL-CRK. I'm just a little bit afraid of a possible flight cancellation since I've heard that it happens quite often to low-cost airlines in Philippines...

you should be fine with tiger. Its run by SQ anyway. The better budget airlines here are jetstar, tiger, airasia. The others (including some dubious ones) should take at your own risk including some in indonesia that frequently crash

29palms: how much for the cab from CRK to MNL approximately? I did some research on buses and found forums saying that highway robbery on buses happens so I ended up not trying that

Well, I've read some stories about tiger huge delays or even cancellations of their flights if they're not fully booked :-( on the other hand, I don't want to buy BKK-CRK ticket until I get to BKK and the price may increase significantly during the next couple of weeks... I also consider some changes to my travel plan - Palawan instead of BKK ;-) but my friends are going to BKK so if I don't find any travel companion to Palawan, I'll probably go for BKK option. So I think I'll buy BKK-MNL ZED for TG and check loads 2-3 days before 30.01. If doesn't look good then, I'll buy BKK-CRK or - if it's expensive - go to Cambodia with my friends (by bus) for 2 days and pay for Cebu Siem Reap-MNL-MPH more than ZED FRA-BKK ;-)

HOW TO: Travel by Public Transport from Manila to Clark | 25 Travels
AirAsia Philippines also partnered up with Philtranco to provide express bus services between Metro Manila and Clark International Airport for 400 or 450 PHP per way.

yeechoong: highway robbery - on this way, MNL-CRK?
