Can someone explain to me how Ready Reserve works. You can PM me if you would like. I am curious as to how far in advance I will know when I work a shift. How long training is. Does your hire date for boarding seniority start when you start ready reserve, or when you become a fultime employee and any thing else that I need to know about the ready reserve program.

Hello Delta. I had a Delta employee tell me that the hardest part about getting hired is trying to get a face to face interview, because of all the people that apply. He thought that if I could get the interview then I would have a job.

Well, I have an appointment for next Monday. Can't wait. If anyone else has gone through the process, I would like to know how ready reserve works. Please send me a PM or reply to my questions in the last post.

first of all...good luck!! RR is not bad...your schedule at first may be sporadic while they use you to fill in the holes, but after a while it will level out...at PBI, where I am a RR, we have set schedules and bid a couple of times a year...

the process of hiring can be a long process and frustrating while peoplesource (i think that is the name of the company) runs your background checks...and they are not fast about it at all, they take their own sweet time...i was gone from delta for 18months and my background searches took about a month when I returned in March...

you will have no medical or retirement benefits, but your flight benefits are exactly like everyone elses...after 6months you can bid on any open position on ebid...training is pretty much on the job, but they have recently started a 2 week training class that some managers are sending their RR's too...

if you have any specific questions shoot me a message and i will be glad to answer...

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am looking forward to Ready Reserve.

Unfortunately Delta canceled my interview today. I guess they were bombarded with employees wanting to transfer to SLC. They said that as soon as they go through all of the transfers then they will start looking at new employees again...

I was really hoping to have at least a slight idea of what type of schedule that I might have so that I plan my school schedule around it. Oh well.

To make a long story short, I went to the interview last year. They told me that they were unable to hire anyone in SLC because they have so many people wanting to transfer there. They sent me home without my interview, but said they would call if something opened up. Well they never called but I saw that they are hiring CSA's in SLC again. I applied again, and we will see what happens.

In the meantime, Continental just announced they are bringing back 300 res agents. I think that I will probably get called. So either way I hope to be flying again in the next couple of months.

Good luck! I know this sounds kind of cliché-ish, but I think this applies a lot for the airline industry especially: If you seem energetic and outgoing in the face-to-face interview, you have a pretty good chance. The fact that you have previous experience helps a lot, too. Seems like you need luck, connections with another employee, or previous experience to get a job. I had luck a few years ago which gave me the previous experience when had my interview a month ago.

Your employment date is your employment date. I started as Ready Reserve and my employment date started the day I completed my res. class.
