    Default Buddy Pass Question

I am traveling ATW backpacking, volunteering, etc. and have a buddy pass that I'd like to make the most of. I've used quite a few Delta buddy passes in the past so I'm familiar with most of the ins and outs - I know that I can use it open-jaw, and must fly Delta flight + Delta equipment, but I have a couple of more complex questions:

    1) Can I do something like JFK> MXP and FCO>ATL? Or do I have to return to the same airport I started from?

    2) If I have to return to the same airport does my starting airport have to be in the US?

    3) Are layover cities allowed? IE: JFK>CDG (a day or two?) and then onto FCO?

Lastly, did I hear that the pass system changed recently (in the last 6 months)? If so, how?

Thanks for any help you can give! Happy travels!

Hah, I kept reading ATW as Outagamie County Regional Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The buddy passes are based on one-way things, so there are no destination restrictions like that. JFK-MXP/FCO-ATL should be fine. No restrictions on US or other countries, either.

Layovers are allowed, but a day or two would likely be another one-way pass, which I think would cost a little more and drain the number of passes faster from whoever is giving them to you. CDG-FCO probably wouldn't be a DL-operated flight anyway, so that's a moot point. FCO-ATL-JFK would be one pass though, as long as you're in ATL for a standard amount of time (but it would cost a little more).

It's a little different at Delta. Each employee has 8 buddy passes per year. Round-trip to/from the same city OR one-way count as 1 trip. If he returned from a different city he would use 2 buddy passes. If he returned from the same city, only 1 pass would be used.

Not so. Our buddies can fly on one RT pass [example] JFK/TLV then return PRG/ATL. There is a fee for destination changes plus any mileage costs/ I just sent my family LAX/NRT/BKK and return BUT they rerouted to SIN/NRT/SFO. The other half of our buddies started MCO/JFK/NRT/BKK and returned SIN/LAX/CVG/MCO. Granted they had to buy rev tickets BKK to SIN--good thing, too, since they X'd the BKK/NRT that day due to mechanical.
I don't believe you can have more than 2 stopovers on RT buddy pass (except for reroutes/reschedules/cancels)
I have nephew in Chile who is now going to Argentina for a few week (on his own ticket).
He will then have option to fly EZE or return to SCL for his flight back.
    Ditto--no codeshares!
