Yes, I was just reading this. I know CAL did the same thing with Continental Express, but it shifted over to a different subsidery, ownership. Now Express Jet. Nothing to do with Continental. Just think, something has to happen to these airplanes, I doubt they would all go into mothball in the desert overnight. And if these planes stay in service working for a different named company or they get sold around, they gotta have people maintaining them. They can operate under their own carrier without using Delta as a parent company. Do like Express Jet did. They seem quite profitable. These workers don't have to get layed off if it was all executed under proper planning and leadership.
Nuther scenario would be to absorb all the employees at Delta as they upgrade their fleets? I can see issues with seniority and placement moving slow. Someone with 22 years at Comair suddenly going to BIG DELTA and starting at the bottom of it all in seniority doesn't sound too appeasing. But if it comes down to job or no job, what else have you got? Sometimes it just sux to be in that predicament. We've all seen it or come close to feeling it in this business.

I left Comair a few years ago, but I guess I'm now in the club of those who's first airline is now defunct..

Hmmm, now that you mention it... I started as a NW employee, so would that make me part of that club? And if so, CO folks, you guys are not... UA basically turned into a bigger CO

And now Regional Elite is closing up shop as well. From some friends I've talked to, even those w/ 10+ years at Comair/REAS will be back to single digit/hour pay within a couple months..

Wow--that's another blow. I just looked at their website, and it says they are hiring.
I clicked on "to apply tab" but none of the other tabs have valid pages. hmmm....

My IT pal there stays mid December. Their bennies are defined.
No clue what my senior pilot friend (26 yrs) will be doing. I hope to hear from him soon. He takes all his vacation at once, so he'll be "vacationing" when the doors close. How bizarre is that?
My retired Comair FI family still doesn't know about their bennies.

We had a very bittersweet flight on Comair this Monday. It was the FA's final flight--16 yrs. She could barely keep her tears back but managed the safety announcements ok. We were only half-full and she had her best buddy, Sandy, with her, working the flight. It was poignant when her partner passed the manifest. I shared my motto with her--"wherever you go, there you are", as well as all the best wishes for a new future. So, here's to Tish--many thanks! (and Sandy, who is a single mom, widow, late 30's) People do make a difference.

On the 29th--raise a glass, thermos, paper cup, can...to Comair. Mig--you can salute again if you want--they'll appreciate it!
