Spring break buddy pass embargoes, ATL expected to be especially busy
March 26, 2013
The busy spring break travel period means embargoes are in effect for buddy pass travel this weekend and next weekend. Because many Atlanta-area school districts are closed for spring break next week, crowds at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are expected to be especially heavy this weekend.
To reduce the impact on the operation, travel for buddy pass riders is not permitted this Friday, March 29, Saturday, March 30 and the following weekend on Sunday, April 7. Buddy pass riders also should use caution when standing by for a late flight on the evenings prior to these dates since the embargo applies even if they have already tried to begin travel on the previous day or are delayed at a connecting point.
Nonrevenue travelers who are planning to travel during spring break should allow plenty of extra time to check any bags, clear security and get to the gate. As a reminder, nonrevs now can check in online via delta.com from any computer with Internet access. This may also help prevent some congestion in the lobbies.
A complete list of 2013 buddy pass embargo dates and other travel alerts is available on the Pass Travel site on DeltaNet.
