    Default DTW-NRT Mid-Late Sept.

    Hi all,

This is my first post here, and I am a bit concerned. I am not new to non-reving by any means, but I am planning on leaving the 16th of September(this month) to NRT. Any ideas if I should have trouble traveling with a companion? I'm DS with a relatively new hire date, but have had no problems domestically. Should I avoid the DTW-NRT route because of the payload warning? I am just not sure about this time of year headed over the Pacific.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Default Question on TravelNet numbers

When it says (for example) 6/6 Business vs. 16/16 Business, does that mean how many they are willing to sell to the public? Or how many are actually available? Which would I have a better chance getting on? My logic tells me the 16/16, but I just wanted to clarify.

    Thanks to all!

That's the deal. 16 open, same as in auth to sell in this case. Chance of getting in BE can be effected by upgrades as well as last minute biz purchases. What's your destination and what day of the week?

Not sure if DTW/NRT is still effected by runway construction. Are you flying S3C and companion or buddy pass (S4)?

I'd be more concerned about getting back. You may need to utilize Osaka (KIX) or Haneda, Tokyo (HND). Don't forget SEA, SFO, LAX, PDX, MSP, JFK and of course ATL--so many gateway cities. Welcome to DL and this IS the place to be for nonrev info and nice folks.

Thanks for the response! I will be flying s3c and with a parent. The departure date is September 16th (Monday) I'd rather use HND as a route to get back, as I dont want to connect multiple times flying there. I'm stationed at AUS.

This can be merged into my other post about DTW-NRT. I will be traveling on a Monday.

Haha, Austin weird? We went to Travaasa this May--free trip hosted by Travaasa and a travel company. Very interesting hotel. You folks have some weird weather, too. Holler if you need more info last-minute. Saw this post after I answered the otehr--I'm sure admin will try to merge the two. Do parents on DS have same priority? Hope you get up front and Have a great time.

Yes, parents have same priority when traveling with the employee. We do have some interesting weather! Mainly hot, though. Interestingly enough, I had no problems traveling domestically this past summer. The reason I want to go out of DTW is because of the easy navigation of the terminals, and I have had nothing but good luck there. Not sure if it will be the same for an international flight. Not to sound like a snob, but I really don't want to be thrown in back for 14 hours if I don't have to be.

If anyone has suggestions on other cities I may have better luck out of, feel free to chip in. Thanks for all your help so far.

It varies day by day, obviously. Too early. Right now DTW is ok, also LAX. Too early. Do you have an extra day to try Tues instead of freaking out and getting coach? We can offer inexpensive hotel options to overnight almost any gateway.ATL and PDX are the worst. Good news is lists are short. Keep watching...Sporadic no-shows on any Asian flts.
