    JNU is an interesting market. I'm guessing they won't fly there more than 1 season.

    Maybe NOT !
    Juneau is the state capitol of Alaska - recalculate recalculate ! ! !
    And then again maybe a push comes to shove move for Alaska Airlines to accept a partnership merger alliance or something else.
    I think there is more here other than to feed the Asian market from a HUB at Seattle.

    In the late 60's Western bought Pacific Northern Airlines and eventually relinquished service to Ketchikan; Juneau; Yakutat; Cordova;
    Homer; Kenai; King Salmon and Kodiak Island leaving Seattle and Anchorage for Delta to market. Western did fly from Anchorage to
    Honolulu briefly but this was an extremely finicky route - seasonal at best. Most of these small city/markets were absorbed by Alaska
    Airlines. After the oil boom leveled off the Alaskan market took another turn saved by the summer cruise ship traffic adding Fairbanks
    to the market.

    Anyone's guess - throwing darts - something is afoot - time will tell ! Adding a state capitol can not be all bad !

    The citizens of Juneau will appreciate having another airline but the weather (mostly fog) causes a lot of flights delays/cancellations - even in the summer. It's a tough market and your plane can get stuck there for days so I suspect Delta will rethink their strategy after one season. We fly there because we are Alaska Airlines but, as I said, it's a tough market.
