    Default Non rev thru CDG

I would like to pass travel CVG-CDG-EDI, if I get a zed fare for CDG - EDI leg will my luggage be transferred automatically in CDG or will I need to pick it up? Any advice is appreciated.

Ask when you check in at CVG if they can check it through, in which case it will be transferred automatically. But don't count on it, I think technically it's against UA rules

I am guessing this is for DL. The CVG/CDG flight is often a good source for nonrevs. I did it this summer returning from DUB. My OW ezed was supercheap @ $36. I never check bags unless req'd by OAL. I'd call the pass bureau to ask about that option, if you're in doubt. I'd suggest sticking w/AF. You need to go to the transfer desk first. Ask the AF agent if you have to go to landside to main counter, or if you can be put on the list (BTW--it's manual--they still don't have DL compatible system) I believe you'll need to do ezed and print the listing. I went the opposite way and listed via landside ticket counter, so I can't advise exact procedure.

Echoing Migflanker we want to hear the Paul Harvey the rest of the story - the juicy stuff as well as the pitfalls and traps you encountered.
This so the next time one us travels that flight plan "worst experiences"can be avoided !

Hi. I have been through CDG a number of times. I flew with ezed from YUL to NCE on AF and was required to collect my baggage, and recheck in CDG. I asked the AF agent if that was normal and she said yes and advised that I account for the time required when planning connections. I have also travelled through CDG and connected on another carrier which also required me to grab my bags and recheck. Seems to be common in CDG.

Flew out of CDG to ATL. Non Rev on Delta as retirees.

Got there plenty early, DL had 4 flights going out, all about an hour apart.

The AF agents would not let us list for all the flight as the 1st and 2nd flight was "too tight" according to them, even though it was an hour plus between flights. Missed the first flight, just happened to go to the second gate where they were calling one of our groups names. He got a seat but the French had already given away two seats (our seats because we were senior) to a junior family, which if they had not given them up my mom and I would not have made it out. Ended up convincing them we were the senior party, even though AF agents could have cared less and were unwilling to help sort it out.

Had to take little mini vans to the actual airplane, and it turned out the Capt was aware of how badly the AF staff treated DL non revs he refused to launch the aircraft until every seat was full, paying passengers or Non Revs.

That was the last time I'll ever go through CDG again.

If you are not familiar with the disparity of systems, it's a rude awakening at CDG. They rely on written declarations by nonrevs and I don't doubt that people lie about their priority. I used an S2 and it showed as S3B after I got home!! My husband is active employee w/27 yrs. I still got on CVG flight BUT I could have been screwed by AF agents. Go with the expectation that they might just do that and deal with it. DL did not "charge" me for an S2. When I saw the S3B, I wrote to DL and made sure they reported the situation. I realize you can't do that since you made a huge fuss about it (that's a no no, even if AF was wrong). Just be prepared to have a possible issue.

Actually we never made a huge fuss about it, we just knew the other family was junior and they gave up their seats. As it has been about 5 years since then, its not a big deal...just a reason why I would never go back through CDG.
