Back in the mid 90's we even had the option to fly the Concorde on BA for a reduced rate, not cheap but not so expensive considering the real price and it was confirmed.

I believe that was on British Airways BA and the standby fare was $100 with a SA return on a BA 747.
If you got on going London getting back was not a problem.
Frightening NOISY takeoff; the fuel burn was the same as the 747; carrying 1/3 the passenger load.
Cruise altitude was 12 miles up (55000-60000 feet) speed twice the speed of sound.
While on temporary assignment at JFK saw it many times and wished I was on it - but not to be !

It wasn't that noisy from inside the cabin.

    $100?

I wish! I would have done it if it were that low.
It was actually $800, which is still not bad.
However, for a kid like me who was making $6 an hour at the time, $800 may as well been one million.
If I could go back in time, I would do it for sure!

Zed priority depends on the agreement. We have a few Zed agreements where the OAL comes before buddy passes. I know we have this with AA and the last time I nonrev'd DL the gate agent advised me I was getting on before buddy passes. she asked how I booked and I explained MyIDTravel. When I got home I spoke with the pass office and they explained we have reciprocal priority agreements with some carriers not all though.

    $800 ???
In today's $s or what was in your pocket at the time ?
In any event it was a fraction of the posted fare !
The unique part of the fare was the SPAV FC on the BA 747 return - not always easy but coach was always open.

These flights were almost always full and any non-rev hoping for a seat the inkle of space available was certain to
be less than 48 hours. When the opportunity opened very few got on and then to contend with the revenue
displacements from other airlines (the airlines did not have those ridiculous change fees at that time) so there
were infrequently walk-up passengers at the last minute bumping aside NRSA hopefuls. The same for the west
bound flights out of the UK.

Operationally - the aircraft did not break the sound barrier on the ground (take-off) but some 50 or so miles off
the shore of Long Island - sort of like going to Warp Speed Star Trek style !
