Hi, Carolyn. I am soon to be down to S3B and I'm not looking forward to losing my S2 priority and 30 yrs seniority. That's what I get when Boss retires! Then again, I get him full-time at home--wonder if that's good or bad?
We use DTW often since we live CVG area. We enjoy the airport access from Romulus hotels, too. Too bad DL dropped HKG route, tho. I have some business friends who aren't too happy about that. Have you been to Asia yet, Carolyn? There are some pretty adventurous air warriors here. I happen to prefer Asia except for the long flights. My husband has been a pilot long enough that he's tired of 'flying'. Gotta work on that attitude...
I use matrix.itasoftware.com for flt planning and rely on TA forums for any LCC info. I like doing a reverse search on the DL destination map--choose destination, then see which routes would be best for checking loads. I still keep my scratch paper for notes. I remember best when I've written things--a photo memory thing.
Hotels for me are 'on the fly' or well-planned just prior. Not sure how that will work now.
Good luck and keep sharing your tips and tricks and trip reviews.

You just have to plan a little more carefully with the loss of the S2's and S3's but the 30 years does a lot. We're S3C with 20 years and the only time we're gotten stuck and had to use an alternate approach to getting back to the US was due to the weather mess in the New York area in Jan 2014 when we couldn't wait it out in AMS and used award tickets to get home.

We like DTW since that's where our son and his wife (also an employee) are so we get to see them.
