I just got back from my cruise visiting the Eternal City of Rome. We arrived in the port of Civitavecchia, and it was not hard to get a train to Rome at all. I tried getting a guide but you know those Italians, it was difficult to do anything last minute. I ended up doing the walking tour, I downloaded from the web. It was not hard but it was a busy day.

The subway system was a trip and it was crowded. There were signs in English, everywhere "Beware of pickpoketers". I loved Rome and everyone there were very nice. I would visit again.

If you are staying in Rome are you sure you want a driver? From what I remember traffic in Rome is terrible. The best way to see the sites in Rome is by public transport and on foot. As regards a certified guide have you tried looking up the Rome tourist office on the internet.
