Hi,
Just wondering if Lufthansa upgrades to business (space available) if you buy an ID 90? Or an ID 75? We are flying to Johannesburg and are looking for the least uncomfortable way to go.
Thanks, Dawn

No, not unless coach is full.

Normally LH don't voluntarily upgrade for OA ID90 and ID75 ( ZZ fare tickets )however I am not sure what their policy is in respect of travel if you are a member of a Star Alliance partner airline.
Thanks Randy and Paul,
For some strange reason I thought LH did upgrade at one time. We're One World so BA is the way to go price wise. They never upgrade so we thought that we would go through FRA if we could get the upgrade.
Cheers! Dawn
Before you buy your ID-90 check with your pass bureau. Ours had a deal where a confirmed ticket on LH was cheaper then the ID-90.
If you were considering LH then check in to their partner, UA. They do upgrade.

As you can bye ID tktĀ“s for c/cl on LH, if you are staralliance staff. I think it would be a little unfair to upgrade psgrs, that only have payed M/cl fare.
So I understand, that they are stricht with it..
Mike.
Last time I flew LH I was told absolutely no upgrades unless coach was full.

Randy...earlier in this thread (last year) you said the UA does upgrade. Is this if you have ID tix issued in C or do they charge an upgrade segment fee or do they load up front for all nr pax like Delta does? Just curious about other airlines policy on this. From what I have heard the last few years, it seems like Delta is one of the only airlines to load "from the front to the back".
UA does upgrade - no matter the ticket type and does not charge extra. I've even been in business in jeans! On another note, AA does not upgrade OA staff, only their own. CO is good about upgrading anyone. I've been on 8 or 10 CO flights over the last 5 to 6 years and have been upgraded more than half the time. On a recent flight from EWR a cust svc agent even came aboard the plane after we had boarded to find us so that he could put us up front!
