    Hello,

My fiancee and I have been offered buddy passes as a gift to use on our honeymoon from ATL to Barcelona in the first week of September. We we planning a 20+ day stay with a depart day of wed and a return day of monday. Neither of us has any experience using a buddy pass. It seems to me that the upside of using the buddy pass for the flight will be the price and the possibility of seat upgrades and the downside is the potential to not be able to board.
Can anyone offer tips or suggestions concerning ATL to BCN travel via buddypass in Sept?

    Thanks!

I forgot to note in the initial post that these would be Delta buddy passes. In reading some of the other posts it seems that other airlines will honor some (but not all?) other airlines buddy passes. Can anyone advise?

    Thanks!

I don't forsee any problem traveling the days that you picked up since is low season. Tell your friend that gave you these passes to review with you the do's and don'ts of this priviledge (ex: dress code, how to activate, etc.) You can also arrive Barcelona and depart from Madrid or Paris or Brussels or Rome.

    Hi Spacewrangler (nice name )
Since you're new to nonreving you might want to read Al's how to nonrev article , also Coyne's Spain article has some great travel tips.
    Congratulations

    Thanks for the replies!

I read the nonrev article but still have a few questions

I am assuming that Flower's post indicates that I can fly into madrid and out of barcelona on one buddy pass....Is this correct?

    Also,

Is there a way for a non airline employee to check which seats are available for a particular flight? Simply going to Delta's website doesn't seem to give an accurate picture.

How about looking at the typical seat load for wednesdays or thursdays in September historically for an ATL to Madrid and then a Monday return from BCN to ATL. Is this possible?

    Thanks for all your help!

Yes, you can fly into Madrid and leave from Barcelona. That's know as an open jaw.

As for the las two questions, you have to call the airline or ask the person that gave you the pass for availability. I rather use the second choice.
