There are so many Hotels in the Amsterdam area. Good budget hotels are Ibis Hotels and Bastion Hotels. Both chains do have several locations in Amsterdam.
In regards to your Non-rev question about KLM JFK-AMS, It all depends on the situation. Call NWA reservations and ask what the load looks like on the flights. KLM operates a mixture of 777 and 747-combi flights out of JFK. The 747-combi do have lots of cargo,so strict weight restrictions do aplly on this flight.
The best Time to travel in regards to load loads is JAN,FEB,MAR.
