We are arriving at Heathrow on the morning of Dec 27, hoping to get to either Milan or Rome and then the train onto Florence. Can anyone check loads for us? I have taken a look at Go Zed but not sure how accurate those little smiley faces are.

We would appreciate any help. Thanks

Flights from LHR to both FCO and MXP look fine on the 27th however have you thought about flying direct into Florence ( probably via FRA as you are with AC and LH are STAR ) and saving the hassle of the trian ride.

forget the train, there are 3 alitalia daily flights from mxp to flr, operated with A319... Low capacity but 4 jumpseat available, the best for nonrev!!!

Thanks to both of you for helping us out. Was also wondering as oal's will BA or Alitalia put oal's in business if back is full? Has anyone had experience with being upgraded or do they leave ZED fare employees behind if there are no economy seats left? We figure there won't be too many passengers flying business on Dec 27.
Thanks again. I find this site to be really helpful.

In general BA will upgrade to Traveller Plus and Club ( generally not First ) to get staff away but they will not upgrade just because seats exist in that cabin although holiday spirits can often create more goodwill in respect of upgrades. Note that you will not be upgraded reqardless of the circumstance if you are not appropriately dressed i.e. Business casual at a minimum. Note that BA's dress standards are not as lax as those I've seen applied by some US carriers.
