Don't know if this is already too late, but the 457 for tomorrow the 18th is showing 13 free seats in business and overbooked by 13 in economy. I'd say there's a pretty good chance. Enjoy Germany.

Thanks Frapos, but they decided to go with plan B, and fly out of PHL or CLT on their own metal. I think plan C is to just sit at the airport and drink.

    Trip Update

My two shy HP non-revs did make the LH flight out of L.A. Thanks Frapos for the update, that saved them the trip to PHL.
They returned FRA/PHL on US, unfortunately things fell apart in PHL. But eventually, and I do emphasize the word eventually, they made it home.
Thanks Fleso and Frapos for all your help.

Glad to be of help. So how did they find the LH flight. I've never non-reved thru LAX but I've heard positive things about the LH staff and non-reving out of there.

since they part of the star alliance best option would have been to take UA and Lufthansa from LAX through JFK cost under $200 total.

Nice flight, great flight crew, even enjoyed the movie.

Venusfan, that's the age old debate--non stop $$ or stop over $. I know they considered LAX/DEN/FRA (UA/LH) and PHX/PHL/FRA, but the idea of that non-stop was always first choice; chalk it up to "old bones"
