Aloha everyone! I am a newbie on this forum. There will be four of us trying to use buddy passes to Europe this October. I have no idea what the traffic will be like since this will be the first time we are attempting to travel out of country on these passes. We are planning to leave mid-October from SFO-LGW and returning FCO-SFO at the end of the month on DL. I have heard some horror stories about FCO and would like to know if it still applies during this time of the year. I have some "nervous flyers" going with me so any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Flight to Europe during the summer are often full to near full. I would not recommend flying out of Rome because those flights are usually full. Check with the employee who gave you the passes for actual flight loads. Always have alternative dates and routes-buddy passes are the last to get on.

Thanks for the advice on traveling during the summer but we planning the trip for October. We would like to depart out of FCO but would VCE be a better option?

Welcome aboard. I work for delta. Generally speaking, the fall months are pretty open for the european flights. The only thing to consider is that european schools have fall break in october, but is not nearly as bad as summer. to make the most of your options to get a seat and get business class (if all kids with you are over 8 years old) I would recommend planning for Tues/Wed flights as they are generally the least travelled days.

Like the other posts, its really way to far out to talk about loads...thats the game with buddy passes. Check back in closer to a month out. The employee should be able to direct you about loads firstly, if they can't post and I will check once its worth looking at realistically.

    Happy travels man!
