    Hi,

My first post here. I haven't used my Delta Flight Pass (I have it through an old friend who works for Delta) for several years, but am now planning more frequent trip to visit family in Sweden and thought it might be worthwhile looking into using it again. I flew a few times to CDG and then on with AF to Stockholm. Is that still possible with a pass?

What are AF's rules for flight pass holders? How do l list on AF flights? I tried calling the automated employee number (which is greatly improved since the last time I used it), but couldn't use that to check availability, list, or even get the fare.

Oh, one last question: I've heard that it's no longer possible to go to a Delta office to purchase tickets. How do I purchase tickets without my Delta friend? She's very busy and seldom in town so I'd prefer if I could do it myself.

Thanks for any help and advice!

    Peter

Hi and welcome--most of us are harmless....
If you are the employee's companion pass rider, here's the scoop:
Employee has to initiate travel onine thru Travelnet system. you can pay with your credit card or you can pay them.

"Travel companions are eligible for travel on Delta, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection and some Delta codeshare partner flights.

*Travel companions of active employees are eligible for unlimited space available yield fare tickets with an S3 boarding classification on the Domestic, Central/South American, Intra-European, Intra-Asian, and Transoceanic Systems.

**Travel companions of active employees are eligible for six space available yield fare tickets with an S2 boarding classification on the Domestic, Central/South American, Intra-European, Intra-Asian, and Transoceanic Systems."

It's not likely that you'll have a codeshare flight CDG/ARN on AF. You'll probably need to fly to Copenhagen (or CDG, but obviously, not the most recommended connection airport, as you can read here) and get lowcostcarrier deal to Stockholm.
I can estimate pass tkt around $330 RT
If you need to use LCC, try AMS connection instead of CDG
    these might help:
    myair.com
    skyeurope.com
    vueling.com
Good luck! Once you friend gets you set up, she's finished with the hassles--ps--there are no major dress code restrictions--FYI--since it's been awhile!

Thank you so much for all that information and help! Exactly what I needed. Very helpful. Now all I need is for my family to move south so that I don't have to deal with that last stretch!

    Again, thanks!

I wish we still had service to Arlanda--I loved Stockholm. I took my 70 yr old parents there when Delta had the Escape program and we still fondly recall the gorgeous weather (unseasonably hot that August) and the lovely people who live there. What a beautiful city!

I make the trip a few times each year and found the following to be my best options:

DL from ATL to CPH, and then either SK to ARN. If you buy your ticket in advance, you can get a one-way from CPH to ARN for around $60.

If it's too expensive, you may want to consider the train from CPH to Stockholm. Runs every hour and takes about 4.5 hours... Cost: again, depending on how far in advance you buy your ticket, can be as low as $30... Check out www.sj.se

My backup is BRU and then Brussels Air to BMA. BMA is the smaller airport in Stockholm, closer to the Center... I think I paid about $90 r/t last time I got an ID95 on them.

As you may be aware, the days when you could show your pass card at AF and get on a flight are long gone... The agreement was replaced by an ID96 agreement a few years back. Sounds like a good deal, but it ends up just as expensive as an ID90 on some of the other airlines.

Also, try DL from JFK to TXL, and then Air Berlin from there to Stockholm. They have excellent rates sometimes...

Lots of options... Let me know if you need more ideas
