Does anyone know where the lightest loads are to Italy? I'm out of Houston, but will travel to any city to get to Rome. Looks like IAH is out of the question. One flight a day and it's already full! Is there a secret gateway that I don't know about? Also, I'd love some advice on economy lodging for Rome and Venice. May try to get to Verona if possible.
    Thanks!

I would think you'll have a tough time with nearly every airline/flight due to the month and Med cruise season. So many crusie pax are flying in a few days in advance [to tour], so the non-sailing dates can't be trusted like before.
I can tell you this--my husband has 20 yrs seniority and I still haven't been to Rome (WAAAHHHHH) Loads never really look good enough to feel safe both ways. Delta even has seasonal service out of CVG and I was not comfortable. I finally made it to Venice last fall and I just went to Pisa. Milan is usually lighter.
I hope you can make it--it's such a tough destination in summer.
Try venere.com for digs--my sister uses them alot.
Good luck and let us know how you do! I can ck DL loads if I'm in reach of the site and my laptop.

Make copies of your passport/credit cards, etc. Wear a money belt/neck pouch, try not to carry anything.
