Hey everyone, my friend and I are going to LGW tonight and back tomorrow. I am just wondering what I can expect when we get off the aircraft as far as getting to the gate. Will we need to pass through passport control first or is it like AMS where you empty into the terminal? Does anyone know if it will be absolutely necessary to check-in at the Delta counter in ticketing or if we can do it at the gate? Thanks for the help.

Yes, old fruit, you will need to pass through UK passport control before being emptied into the terminal. And yes, you will need to check in at the Delta ticket counter before going up to your gate. The agents there must give you a boarding pass before you will be allowed to pass through security.
And why, pray, are you going to London just for the day? Are you insane? If so, you will fit in well with the notably eccentric Brits.
