hey everyone!! need some ideas, please.

Sister/her hubby are going to Prague mid June on DL buddy passes, so no EU nonrev flts--BUT--
they want to spend 2 wks total. They are young 60's and fit--travel light and are pretty sharp on good days!!m (hahaha--aren't we all???)
I can return them thru MUC, FRA, BUD or any other DL major city

We're looking at options to add on to PRG for a itinerary easy to get around city/city (several days in each)
They like small towns but I also know that English is limited in some of them and Czech isn't exactly the easiest to read, pronounce or figure out on a map.
Plug in your traveling brains--I've been to Prague 2X so I have it covered, but we just do the city and fly home.
    Thanks all!!

Wish I could help you out with this but I have never been to Prague or surrounding area. I did see where you have been to Prague twice and wondered where you stay there? Someone suggested The Danzieler Hotel as it is inexpensive and in a good location but I cannot find it on the internet anywhere. Do you have any suggestions. We are thinking of going this summer. Thanks! JC

hey JC--if you or anyone else is interested, there is an apartment bldg I will recommend.
Owner has restaruant, U Laury and several rooms/apts of various sizes. He will give you fair prices if you mention me and this website. It's been a few years, but the bldg is 400 yrs old and has had renovations during/since my last visit. I sent a Comair pilot friend a while back. Josef Skokan is owner and has single room/shared bath/kitchen or 2-3 rooms w/bath/kitchen--all walk up and very close toall the major sights. It's # 10 Nerudova Street--just below the castle near the steps on theNW side of Charles Bridge in Mala Strana (Little Quarter) Grocery and bars/restaurants all earby. Josef's restaurant is quite nice, too

You can also refer to this place--next street over--up the steps more--but much more upscale--refer to me--they may gvie you a deal, I don't know--I have never stayed there because of availability:

there are the usual chains like hilton etc--they hardly give interline deals tho--during season--forget it
take a look at some of the prague special auction pkgs at LuxuryLink.com--there are several that beat every pkg I've ever seen--transfers or dinners or spa or torus or prague cards--seriously--go asap--the rpice will just keep going up and up. Take a look at the Aria or Hotel Hoffmeister (our honeymoon 2 floor suite--SWEEEEET)
    happy to add more later

Adding more: this is still eastern europe so don't expect a 400 yr old bldg to be paradise--lots of steps and pretty basic kitchen/bath--but very charming and great location

Thanks! that seems like a good route--if they decide to RT thru PRG, they can do do that swing around to come back thru Budweis?

My parents went last last in June on DL passes to PRG. I ended up routing them through VIE at the last minute and it worked out great. I had been tracking (stalking) the PRG, FRA and VIE flights and then booked them on the train to Prague from Venice. Easy transfer from VIE to the train station to Prague. My parents are very active and are in their 70's but managed fine. They stayed at the Grand and the Mandarin Oriental, both were great~The Grand would be a 3* and the MO is a 5*. The Mandarin had just opened up last year and there were great deals. Not sure if that is the case now.

My husband and I have also flown into FRA and then gone on via Lufthansa to PRG. The train would be an option for your sister. My husband spend a few nights in Prague and then went to Budapest, which I actually like more than Prague these days. Budapest is not on the Euro, so with the economy, the florent (sp.) is a great bargain. Budapest would be a better bargain than Vienna.

I've also taken the train from Prague to Venice and it is a beautiful trip. They could fly out of Venice.

    Sounds like a great trip!
