Default How come nobody goes to......

HELSINKI? Why do you hear little about Helsinki? I thought that would be a pretty cool place to visit. Then again, versus Norway or Sweden, would it be worth it? That sounds like an interesting getaway, but the hotel prices look a little steep. Probably a very expensive place to visit.

I was really close to going to HEL during my round-the-world trip a few years back. Then it turned out that the PMI-HEL flight I was planning on was on the embargo list for OAL (I think it may have been operated by another carrier or something?) so I decided to go through FRA instead. Wish I could have made it to HEL, that does seem like a cool city.

Someday the wife and I really want to check out OSL. Her family is mostly Norwegian, and mine is partly as well. But yeah, Scandinavia is very expensive, sadly

I went to HEL in 2004 and loved it.

Although not tops on my list, AA does have a seasonal nonstop out of ORD that I may one day take.

Another interesting and hardly I ever hear anyone going to is ICELAND. Except for a few military personell I have known to be stationed in Keflavik. Iceland is probably a hidden jewel with the thermal pools and geodetic make up. Probably very rich in Viking history also. I wonder if Iceland is even classified as being Europe? I think they are using the Euro, but they are somewhat out in the Atlantic Ocean, quite far from the rest of Europe. I bet many people think Europe ends in Great Britain and Ireland.

I've heard of Icelandair. I think they go out of JFK to Iceland. I bet that's an interesting airline. I knew a guy that was stationed in Iceland with the Marines at Keflavik, some isolated military base there, he told me they had incredible giant crab legs and excellent seafood. And very pricey.

Yeah, I know that FI flies from JFK, SEA, MSP (seasonally), DEN, and probably another place or two I'm missing. Maaaybe BOS? Ok, just checked. All those were right, but I missed Orlando-Sanford, Dulles (both seasonal), and soon they'll be starting ANC and EWR. Not bad expansion for them, I know that DEN is also pretty new
