    Default Help with FRA accommodations

I am Mrs767er buddy pass family and we are in IST together and she couldn't answer my question so she said to post on here.
I am meeting my husband and dad in FRA this week but we arrive from IST a day ahead of them.
We want to find accommodations near enough to the FRA airport since they arrive the next morning we do. We plan on renting a car the morning they arrive so will have no car for the afternoon we land to the next morning. Is there a good hotel in the airport area where we don't have to train far spend the night with access to walking to restaurants/pub. And still have easy access to FRA the next morning by 8am for car rental pick up? I looked at Ibis in Mainz but worry its too far on train to access. On another question would it be cheaper to stay in Mainz and rent a car from there as most airport rental agencies charge high taxes?

    sincerely thanks

I stayed at the Ibis Hotel FRA Hotel in KELSTERBACH - Book your hotel ibis Frankfurt Airport. Arrived in the PM from MUC by train for a flight back to the US the following AM. Not the best hotel but a decent place to sleep. Rates were reasonable and they do have a free shuttle.

Hilton, Hilton Garden and the Sheraton are three hotels situated directly in the airport compound. About a 10 min walk to Terminal 1 (Sheraton is just 5 min) But there's a premium to be paid for location, locaton, location. However all do offer airliner discounts. As indicated the town of Kelsterbach has many smaller more reasonaby priced accommodation, some of which provide free airport transfer. There's also the popular Intercity Airport Hotel (next to the runway) or the Steigenberger with free shuttle service, 10 minute drive away. You may also consider hotels in downtown Frankfurt close to the central train station. They would definitely be cheaper. Trains run every 15 min to the airport and take just 10 min. Hope this helps

frapos, I knew you'd come thru for them! Thanks. She asked me and I said "ah....I dunno--check nonrev.net" The M7 was clueless on FRA--never thought I'd type THAT! They got the Sheraton Offenbach Congress since it was close to Europecar (5 min walk and $80 cheaper) They had cash and points for $55. They wouldn't be able to use interline deals since I'll abandon them in Istanbul. Can't wait to do my report for IST chicktrip. Thanks again. PS--Mig, I knew I'd see a comment from you first.
