Aer Lingus says it will reduce its staff overhead at its BFS base with effect from October of this year.
The Belfast Telegraph reports that of the base's fifty-five existing flight crew, 'around' seventeen will be retained with the remainder to be either repositioned to DUB or laid off. Seven maintenance staff will also be cut from BFS, and offered roles in DUB. Eight pilots will also be moved to Aer Lingus's Dublin headquarters with a further sixteen to be offered roles there as well.
The IAG carrier says the move is necessary to ensure the longterm viability of the base.
