    When I went, I flew to LHR then BA to ATH. From ATH to Santorini, I took the fast ferry. Going back, took the ferry to Mykonos then bought a rev ticket back to ATH on Olympic. Spent all day trying to get to get to LHR or MAD and finally got the last middle seats on the last BA flight to LHR. I dropped my sunglasses somewhere running to the gate as you need a boarding pass to get thru security.

    So you lost your glasses in ATH somewhere between security and the gate, not in LHR, and definitely not at JFK, T8, near gate 33……….just asking.
