Dublin airport has outlined plans for a new four star plus hotel linked to Terminal 2, although an investor will need to be found before it can go ahead.
The airport has planning permission for a 402-room property, to be located between T2 and the adjacent multi-storey car park, and is seeking expressions of interest for a company or consortium to design, build, finance and operate the hotel.
Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) says that the hotel would be one of the largest in Ireland, and would be operated by the winning bidder for 100 years before being transferred back to the authority.
The current planning permission expires in March next year, and the DAA says the investor would need to reapply, and “may therefore decide to make modifications to the proposed internal layouts and bedroom configurations”.
Commenting on the news Dublin airport’s managing director Vincent Harrison said:
“This is a unique opportunity to build and operate a new terminal-linked hotel at one of Ireland’s premier locations.
