In planning my 23rd nonrev trip to SIN at the end of March I thought I'd make it a bit more interesting by going west from Europe.
Reson for this was a discussion with a buddy who mentioned that this might be the last year NW is flying the DC-10 and I still haven't been on one of those beauties.
So doing some research I found that two routes out of AMS to MEM and MSP are run with DC-10s.
Then I figured I'd wanna try out longhaul on DL (heard they usually treat nonrevs pretty well) and UA.
Ok, looking at DL... Only one US-Asia route... ATL-NRT
Not too bad. UA flies NRT-SIN...
Head gears start crankin' and soon I've planned the following route:
STO-AMS on SK or KL, AMS-MEM on NW DC-10, MEM-ATL NW DC-9 (Yay!! ), stay overnight in ATL and then catch ATL-NRT with DL 777 and then finally do NRT-SIN in C with a UA 777!
Any comments to trying this route at the end of march?
Best alternative routes from ATL to Asia in case I don't get on the DL flight? LAX, SFO or maybe ORD?
