Not to long ago someone asked a specific question about ground transportation in Germany and some one who obviously lived in the area chimed right in with specific answers for them. That kind of stuff happens all the time around here and there's only about 2,700 of us registered. There's no telling how many nonrevs the Correspondents have helped over the years with with their frequent advice and detailed articles. Can you imagine how much better it would be if we had 10,000 registered participants? Airline employees world wide would be in the millions. Is 100,000 participants an unrealistic goal?
I've realized I can't do this alone. I need your help. Please read the following. If everyone would do just one or two things, we'd be on our way.
I'm starting out on a shoe string and funds are getting low. I'm really not able to spend much for advertising. I'm hoping you'll help the site to get going with a grass-roots viral campaign. We'll need to use word of mouth, email, social networking and whatever else you smart, airline professionals can come up with.
I've made initial contact with all of the Major US airline employee publications. I'm working on smaller carriers and commuters now. From there I'll move to non-US, English-speaking carriers and will be looking to contact airport news publications as well but these efforts will take time to bear fruit.
I'm trying to convince these publications to run a brief story about the site using the following points:
- It's a very valuable tool for planning interline travel.
- All the community resources are completely free to your employees.
- It eliminates the need and expense for you to provide a similar resource.
- Any online community you might provide would lack the volume of information that can be aggregated by open, global, all-carrier participation.
- I am starting up on a shoe string and don't yet have an advertising budget.
- If your publication accepts advertisers, I'll certainly be one in the future if you'll help me get the word out initially.
I'll keep plugging with this effort but we may have much more success if these editors hear from their own company employees what a helpful site this is. Please consider writing in using the points above and personalizing with your own experience of the site.
I've got some other things in mind and will post on this thread again when I need help.
For now you can:
- Write your employee news publication.
- Tell all your nonrev friends and coworkers. I always say, "It's The Nonrev Network" at nonrev.net. Remember '.net' for network."
- Email all your airline employee friends but don't use company email if it's not accepted. Let's stay on management's good side. Please include the web address - http://nonrev.net .
- If you have an airport news paper at your station (especially big stations) send me the editor's contact info.
It helps me to read through the publications to give me hints about where a story might go or how to approach the editor. If you really want to go above and beyond, send me a copy of your employee publication and/or airport news paper. Mail to:

Post here and let me know how it goes. Sometimes I need some encouragement.
Thanks so much for your participation and support!!!
