New US Airways boarding overhaul
As of May 1, US Airways has gone to a new boarding system. Instead of the old "reverse pyramid" sytem, they are now going with a new "out-side in zone" system with a few new wrinkles. One wrinkle, pax that book on line, will board ahead of basic pax. The new system still allows for pre-boarding (pax with children, pax who need assistance, elite-status ) to board before everybody else.
Airplane boarding, how it's suppose to work
My opinion, there will always be pax lined up in the aisles and
boarding should be done on a "bag system".
What's the bag sysytem????
One little bag, you board first
Two carry-ons, you board second,
Those with two huge roll-ons that just sneak in under the baggage rule, board third
and those carrying a TV, a crate of oranges, a handcrafted model of an three-masted schooner, (oh yeah saw it myself) etc, board last.
Presto there's enough room for a non-rev's bag in the overhead above their seat.
