Arabwal. Look it up sometime.

Known as a great navigator, Aghurubw, the chief of Satawal. was also a man of great courage and humility. He braved unpredictable weather and uncertainties to bring his people to a land of refuge after typhoons wrecked his homeland. His humility lay in his decision to first ask permission from then Spanish Gov. Medinilla to settle his people on Saipan.

Yes Nick. Considering only about 5 people here including myself post around 96 percent of all postings here....(and this is just a wild guess on my part), I figure someone out there might like some historical facts never before heard. And again, that is just another guess. And figure this. Maybe someone that is GEOGRAPHICALLY inclined, may just want to look up the island of SATAWAL and wonder about this place, or maybe even think about a possible visit there sometime. Do you have a world map? Lets time you. Take this world map and look and see how long it takes you to look up where SATAWAL is. If you have never seen the pacific islands, its beauty, its blue waters and sandy beaches, you are really missing out. Cancun and Cozumel have nothing on those islands out there. There is reason to my madness, or random postings. Nick, have you been to any of those islands you being from "Down Under"? I know CMI and CO are going to start flights to FIJI on December. From Guam and from HNL. I can think of a few islands I'd like to check out on the top of my list but FIJI sounds cool.

I want to visit BOB Bora Bora some day. We always joke that if my husband leaves DL before retirement, we'll start a charter company called Bob Air. Maybe we can set it up there??

There is Bora Bora and there is PAGO PAGO and there is GYAB GYAB beach and there is Tonga, Espiritu Santo, all kinds of micro islands.....(MICRONESIA). A vast Pacific ocean but lots of islands and people living on those islands for centuries. The expansion of the boat people from the islands of Indonesia and the Philippines out to the vast Pacific islands remains one of the greatest migrations of mankind. There is Polynesia, Micronesia, Melanesia, some of the groups within these groups include Marshal Islands, Marianas Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Hawaiian Islands, The Marqueses Islands.....

Haha I hope you didn't take offence, I was just joking. I did actually appreciate your comment on more trip reports and plan to do one after my next trip.

I looked at my map and couldn't find the place. Mind you my map at work says Victoria is still the capital of Hong Kong, so the thing is at least 13 years old! Can't say i've done the pacific. As I said in one of Mig's posts, it is one of those "too close" things. We live on an island so far away, if we travel we want to travel far. Australians have been avoiding Fiji also due to the political instability and fact it is quite expensive when compared to Bali and Thailand at our doorstep.

CX also just announced we have started a codeshare deal with FJ for flights Hong Kong - Nadi which is interesting, hopefully will help us both tap the Asian vacation market.

If you go south of Saipan on the map about 730 miles into a group of islands called FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA, to the south/southeast, you'll find SATAWAL. It's east of YAP. West of Pohnpei. Of course, you gotta find GUAM/SAIPAN first. (Saipan and Guam are virtually close to each other.) If you can't find those, its due east of Philippines and straight south of Japan.
