    Default Volcano horror stories, anyone?

The wife and I have been to volcanoes in Japan, Costa Rica and Hawaii. I swear, I was trying to convince my friends to go to Iceland next month to see one up there before all the commotion this past week. Anyway, I sit cozy at home (until tomorrow morning). Are any of you fellow nonrevvers stuck in Europe or otherwise affected by the ash cloud? We were talking at dinner this evening and shuddered to imagine being on a buddy pass out there this week. Please, do tell.

Luckily I left just in time (last Sat, 4-10). The first leg saw on a ZED ticket, so it could have been very bad.

My best friend senior year in High School was the foreign exchange student from Sweden...He has been planning for months to fly into MIA today and take a cruise and I was supposed to drive down tonight and have dinner and show him the sites of south beach...got an email yesterday that he wont be making it in because of the ash...my little story is not as heartbreaking as others, but was looking forward to seeing him after 20 years...I really hope he bought the trip insurance or will be allowed to rebook air/sea package...

Not sure if we will make it to CAI. Flights are getting full this week and who knows how long this nonsense will last. Are the gods pointing to Roatan?

    Honduras?

The problem with CAI is the great circle route JFK-CAI v.v. travels over the affected areas. Payload is already dicey from what I have heard in the past about the CAIJFK leg, factor in ETOPS considerations and a longer flight time/path and the chances probably aren't great.

    DL posted any info, mrs767?

We had to ditch the CAI plans. We are due to leave in a week and wanted to have a schedule and planned diving on liveaboards etc. Looking at the loads, we may have gotten to CAI next week maybe.......getting back we were planning via Europe. If things stay the way they are for a few more days, the backlog will take several weeks to get to normal. RTB much easier. We know Roatan, have friends there and flights are wide open. Great diving there too. Egypt can wait I guess. We will try again for December.

Have a great time, no matter where, katej! I got an email from Abdo--hope you let him down gently--he is sooo looking forward to your arrival. He'll be your friend forever, BTW...
Nick--we're in CVG--home is Kentucky--land of beautiful women and fast horses--wait, do I have that backwards?
Dletaflyer--that's too bad about your visitor. Hope all works out for the insurance etc.
