Just my two cents, but..for the past 2 years I've become more and more disappointed with our DL employee discounts with car rental agencies. The past several (at least 3 or 4) trips I've actually received a better discount just asking for a Sam's Club discount. Mind you, I'm not a member of Sam's travel club - but they've never been that specific and of course nobody has ever asked for my card (but I have had them ask for airline ID). Might be worth your time to check in you happen to be a Sam's club member.

I use the Hertz Gold membership, via USAA membership, in which the membership fee is waived. You can elect to put up to 3 discount codes. I put USAA, NFCU, and AAA. Believe it or not, to my surprise, AAA beat them all. (Talking less than a buck or so.) I don't even bother to use airline discounts. I joined the gold membership program via some USAA web site that put me in a Hertz link for usaa members.
