    Default United Taxes

    Hi there,

I was looking to find out what the taxes would be for a companion pass on United for the route:

    FWA-ORD-LHR

    Thanks in advance.

I can't check, not an employee (yet ), but is that supposed to include the return trip? I'd be much more worried about that one, since LHR has some pretty high departure taxes. Also, do you mean taxes, or the total companion fare?

FWA to ORD: Companion fare $69.90, taxes $15.84.
ORD to LHR: Companion fare $110.30, taxes $33.10.

As Sponge points out, flying our of LHR is a killer, tax-wise. LHR to ORD companion fare is $110.30, taxes are $323.62.

    Your mileage may vary...

Sorry Sponge - yes that would be a return flight, and yes, I needed to know more than taxes.
    Thanks for that Drew!
I like the fact that there are 3 flights from ORD-LHR (seemingly year-round). I'd be flying the 2nd week of Feb '11.

    Again - thanks much.

I think LHR is my only real option for the return leg. I'm going into EDI and while FRA would be an option for coming back, there is only 1 flight. LHR has 3. I don't really mind paying that amount for a (better) chance to get home. Esp if business is a possibility.

The employee, who is giving you this pass and will undoubtedly be payroll deducted - did they not convey what the charges are?

The employee is a retiree, so he'll get the money up front. He has flown himself many times since retiring, so I'm sure he knows what the deal is. He didn't tell me what the amount would be yet, no. Nearer the time he'll call to get that info.
    Thanks.
