I went back home for a wedding this weekend. Got a cheapie confirmed tkt on MH SIN-KUL-MEL, service was on par with price I must say.

On the return I got to the counter (another airline.. using ZED) and the lady was quite nice, she called control and got me an aisle seat. I saw an ex colleague of mine doing the boarding of the flight and said hi.

I got red lighted at the boarding gate scanner, and got given an exit row seat which i really appreciated. The lady at checkin was really nice so not sure if she arranged.

Then I got on and before we leave an FA comes over and doesn't address me by name but tells me that she is going to give me 2 bottles of wine and what would I like. I didn't think much of it (apart from it being nice) as at other airlines I had been given stuff before, and I saw someone I knew outside so wondered if he had played a part. Anyways later in the flight she comes back and tells me she thought i was someone else, and why didn't i tell her!?

Well she never addressed me by name, and who would refuse wine?

I found it odd she came back. Maybe i've adapted to Asian culture too much ("saving face") but think it would have been more appropriate is she pretended to forget - it's not as though I was going to hunt her down. Or she could have just honored it... I don't know I thought coming back was a little odd and rude and the purpose was to make me embarrassed by people around me?

I suspect this was a result of last minute seat change... but as BP was issued I assumed it was manifested. Who knows...
